Your Help Is Needed: Support Bethel School Supply Closet
Part of our offering each time we visit has been either the delivery of or financial support for much-needed school supplies. This year, considering the exchange rate between the US Dollar and the Brazilian REAL, as well as the added cost for each extra suitcase required to transport supplies, it makes more sense to purchase all supplies directly in Brazil.
As we prepare for departure in May, you are invited to join in on the journey by donating toward Bethel School Supplies. Your generous contributions will be used to purchase items directly from the school's shopping list. If you have previously donated in-kind items like boxes of markers or glue sticks, please consider making a monetary gift in a similar amount this year. We will accompany Adailza, the school's newly appointed director, on the shopping trip to purchase much needed items that will enhance the educational experience for all children at Bethel School!
There is such beauty in each encounter we have at Highlands Juvenile Detention Center. Because our team is so diverse, each encounter is unique, personal, meaningful, and real. And each always conveys the hope and the love found in Christ.
These kids trust us and they are hungry for Truth. They feel the power of God’s Word in action and our consistency and presence matters. The Holy Spirit is with us and with them in HJDC! What a blessing it is to be part of this and to see God at work in these young people - and in us - through this ministry.
Recognized biblically as a gift, hospitality invites treating others with kindness, and mirroring the grace that we have received in Christ. For some, hospitality may be experienced in a simple phone call, or a note of encouragement, perhaps even a conversation over a cup of coffee. For others, hospitality is experienced through the gift of food, with a meal received at the right moment.
At FPC we have a very active Care Committee (Congregational Care) who share the gift of hospitality in each of these ways as well as other ways. Would you consider exploring your gift for hospitality with the church?
Join Pastor Gary each week for prayer. Every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel, Gary and staff will be gathering with any and all who would like to pray.
No need to sign up, just show up!
