Haiti

Haiti has the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the western hemisphere. For every 100,000 live births, 359 Haitian women will die as opposed to 23 in the United States. For every 1,000 live births in Haiti, 45 infants will die - this is almost nine time the infant mortality rate in the U.S.

Hôpital Sainte Croix, located in Leogane, partners with the Medical Benevolence Foundation of the PC(USA) in working to substantially reduce the maternal, infant and child mortality rates in the southeastern region of Haiti by giving women access to prenatal care, skilled birth attendants for labor and delivery, vaccines, and well-baby visits, as well as family planning options. First Presbyterian Church of Bristol is pleased to join the support this worthy cause.
