May Mission Focus
Wycliffe: Uganda
Across Uganda today, believers are encountering the life-changing message of Scripture in a way many of us take for granted—“in the language of their hearts.” Yet for one large community in eastern Uganda, that experience is still out of reach.
In the Busoga region, the Lulamoogi language is spoken by an estimated 236,199 people. It is currently the largest language group in Uganda without any Bible translation in their heart language. For generations, Lulamoogi-speaking believers have worshiped, prayed, and raised their families without Scripture they could fully understand. But this year, something hopeful is beginning.
Wycliffe Bible Translators has launched a new effort to bring God’s Word to this people group starting with the translation of the Gospel of Luke. It is a small beginning, but a powerful one. Translation is “not simply a linguistic project—it is a ministry of transformation.” FPC wants to help!
Why This Translation Matters
For the Lulamoogi-speaking people, this translation will be the first time they can hear Jesus’ words in the rhythms and expressions that feel like home.
To complete the translation of Luke and support the Lulamoogi translation team, Wycliffe has set a goal of $7,665, that’s only $35 per verse. Every gift, large or small, moves this project forward.
As a congregation, we have long believed in the power of God’s Word to heal, guide, and renew. This month, we invite you to extend that gift to our brothers and sisters in the Busoga region of Uganda.
Let’s join Wycliffe in bringing the light of Scripture to the Lulamoogi-speaking people. Let’s help God’s Word reach every heart.
