Staff
Pastor/Head of Staff: Dr. Gordon Turnbull has served as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church since April 1999. His education includes degrees from Davidson College, Vanderbilt University, Union Theological Seminary in Virginia, and Princeton Theological Seminary. Among his interests in ministry are preaching, worship, and mission. Gordon and his wife, Betsy, have been married for twenty-four years; they have three sons: Alec, Thomas, and John.
Minister for Discipleship: Dr. Dave Welch has served First Presbyterian church since June, 2005. His education includes degrees from Vanderbilt University, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Columbia Theological Seminary of Atlanta Georgia. Along with worship, Dave is also interested in all new technology. He and his wife Linda have been married for 22 years; the have three children: Kathryn, Abigail and Stephen.
Directors of Music Ministries: Steve and Vicki Fey have served as Directors of Music Ministries since August of 1999. Steve is a graduate of Washington University and the University of North Texas, and Vicki is a graduate of Stetson University and also the University of North Texas. Steve has a particular passion for hymns and their stories, and currently serves on the Presbyterian Committee for Congregational Song, developing a new song resource for the PCUSA. Vicki has served as President of the Executive Board of the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, and plays with Paramount Chamber Players as well as Symphony of the Mountains and is accompanist for Voices of the Mountains. Their two sons, Alan and Jordan, are particular lights of their lives.
Director of Student Ministries: Chad Carpenter, has served as Director of Student Ministries since Dec. of 1999. He is a graduate of Taylor University. Chad also enjoys coaching football at the local high school. He and his wife, Jen, have been married for 8 years.
Business Administrator: Betsy Galliher
Worship Coordinator: Dr. Fred Foy Strang: Fred Foy has recently joined the staff of FPC as the 8:30 am Worship Leader. Fred Foy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Furman University, a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Theological Seminary, a Master of Science by Research from the University of Edinburgh, and a Ph.D. from the Centre for the Study of Christianity in the Non Western World, University of Edinburgh. Ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1987, he has served with his wife, Cecily, and boys, Jesse and Jacob, as a missionary among the Maasai people of Kenya and Tanzania, as well as initiating and leading Contemporary worship services in several different churches. Dr. Strang serves King College as an Associate Professor of Missions and Bible and Religion Tennessee and Assistant Chaplain.
Director of Food Services:
Mary Lee Schiesz, began service in September. Mary brings high energy as well as a degree in Food Service Management to the new position. Please help us welcome her to the staff at First Presbyterian Church.
Church Secretary: Dyan Buck
Church Secretary: Dyan has recently joined the staff of First Presbyterian Church. She brings a rich tradition of service and caring to this essential position. A long-time member at First Presbyterian church, Dyan is married (Kevin) and has four children.
